The InTune Mother Society is expanding our reach through workforce innovation and development. We are looking forward to offering a new 10-week training opportunity for 12 local individuals to become Certified Breastfeeding Peer Counselors.

Uplifting the InTune Mother Society definition of a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

  • Breastfeeding or previous experience with supporting a breastfeeding teen, woman, or family*
  • Recruited and hired from TIM’s target population, and representing the same cultural/racial/ethnic background as the mother/families they will support
  • Available to serve teens, women, and families outside usual hours and outside the BBC environment
  • Experience with breastfeeding or having breastfed at least one baby

Our designated breastfeeding peer counselors provide support for breastfeeding women and families and/or coordinates support at State and/or local level

Our scope of practice for Breastfeeding Peer Counselors is limited to supporting ecological breastfeeding. Compensation and reimbursement of peer counselors will be available to create space for innovative solutions to workforce development.

Training of local Breastfeeding Peer Counselors involves case management, supervisory, and clinic staff using Popular Education – along with our developed training curricula

Establishment of standardized breastfeeding peer counseling program policies and procedures as part of First Food Equity as a nutrition education plan for breastfeeding women and their babies in the state of Oklahoma.
