Not Your Usual Canvas For Spring Cleaning

Well… Well… Well…

Stomach flu vs. Allergic Reaction

It has been a pretty exciting week! My intuition has been on high frequency, casting new ideas and concepts. Working with my mentors on the power of deliberate intentions. Learning life lessons about my purpose as a wife, mother, and friend. With all of this new moon energy everything was laid out for the perfect Spring Break, right? Well I won’t complain — just not what I expected. Or – Did I?

Clear Observation

Well… the stomach flu hit the children pretty hard this week. It was like a domino affect. First our middle son, then the oldest, and now our toddler. Our children just so happen to be asthmatic, prone to eczema outbreaks, and allergic reactions (food and environmental). My husband and I had talked about doing a spring detox, but procrastination got the best of us. Or – Did it?

Well… when you do a detox you are giving your body the deep clean that it needs to get back on track with optimum flow… Right? Freeing it up from all the trash that you tried so hard to avoid through the winter. Well lone behold, we got the detox, just not the way we expected.

The Mystery Mix

Well… sometimes we let our children try out certain foods. Trail mix is one snack that I like to make on our own… And I use Chex cereal because, they have a gluten-free brand. But this time, we strayed the path for our best health. After a aseries of various symptoms, including gastric upset, diarrhea, and vomiting, I read the back of the bag to see that it contained all the color dyes that we aim to stay clear from. Hey, when you know better, you should do better, right?

A Quick Lesson In Sacral/Solar-Plexus Detox

Well… since we already knew the dangers of artificial food coloring, we had to be accountable of our part in the bad stomach. So we went on to do our detox and energy work. The main focus had been all about intention. What we want for our children is the best so we have to maintain our posture in doing so. No slumping or dragging our feet.

Well… on Wednesday morning as I engaged the children in a bit of music therapy, it became clear to me why the children were having such an experience over the store-bought trail mix. It was simple to me, but I am not a medical doctor, so don’t judge me for “Free-Styling” on what insight I gathered from all this.

Well… as I was singing one of my favorite songs, “Feel So Good” in a chant style rhythm. As I begin to circle my eldest son, while he lay in prone position, I tell him to just relax I gently touch his belly, feeling the low vibrational energy trying to leave his body. I explain to him my own interpretation of his sickness. I tell him the placement of the chakra system in his body. When I stop at his abdominal region, he tells me, “It was the color dyes, huh mom?” I then explain how the human body is not made to consume artificial colors. The body is like a master computer that can only read like programming. The sacral and solar plexus regions of his body were under attack by artificial intelligence.

Well… I go on to tell him that his system had been compromised because, we allowed him to have artificial food coloring. Which he will not have to worry about again. I also explained that these dyes are a contaminant to the human body, and the body reads these as a threat.  I told him, sometimes it takes longer to show up in others, or can sometimes go misdiagnosed as a stomach virus or food poisening — when it can be as simple as an allergic reaction. Like I said, I am no doctor, but I think I’m big on self-directed reserch. Food color can cause allergic reactions that result in similar symptoms as gastroenteritis.

Because gastroenteritis is associated, with viral and bacterial infections, I did not count this out. Be that I have boy children, who are always being told to wash your hands, stay out of your nose, and pants, but little ones are not as concerned, with proper hygiene as we adults are. It was just ironic that they had eaten that (colorful) snack, which later led to a 1, 2, 3 knock out. This led me to the thought that we put out bodies at risk when we step out of alignment, with what is natural and organic. Our seven-year-old sure knows about it now. As he asked me if being sick can be good for you. I answered him by saying, “No one likes to be sick, but sometimes the body needs to reset or (detox) itself , especially when it has had an alien invasion.” Hey, don’t even judge my technique. I have to meet them where they are. The five-year-old and the two-year-old… still have some time to go before they get it… But rest assure that our eldest son will be reading the labels from this point moving forward. —

Get Well ~ Concluding thought:

Parenting is trial and error. There is not a sure shot way to parent your child. We can choose this or that as valid and practical, or magical and whimsical. I just flow with what feels right to me. And when I am out of alignment, I am taught to get right back on track. This can increase ones parenting skills intuitively. Learning that dis-ease, pain, sickness, is a time for rest, resetting our systems, and becoming deeper engaged to the energy that is allowed into your environment, makes a wold of difference. As a parent of children with food allergies, we have learned that not every event is worth the ER.

I can count on my hand how many times we have visited a hospital room for an emergency. As long as we maintain our dietary standards, we are within normal limits of good health. So the next time you think about skipping out on your regular household treats…

… refer back to this blog post and just say, “NO” to artificial food color dyes!

A community enrichment event tied to The Godby Rd Recreation Center, Annual Back 2 School Bash

The InTune Mother, College Park, Georgia

July 28st, 2014

On August 8th, 2014, The InTune Mother (TIM) along with management and residents at South Hampton Estates (SHE) hopes to demonstrate to hundreds of other school children around the College Park area a shared vision to empower communities through education in remote areas of Fulton County. The residents at South Hampton Estates are embarking on a “Be Prepared To Learn” campaign to broaden their cultural horizons and become members of a communal family dedicated to education.

How can one dollar prepare a child to learn? It doesn’t buy much in the Metro City of Atlanta. But in the  City of College Park, it can buy a pack of pencils, prepare a child for education, and transform a life. In a community where many odds are stacked against them, that pencil can empower a child to read, write, and learn. The InTune Mother’s program goal is to encourage children, who are ultimately our future leaders, to learn the value of philanthropy by collecting dollars for community empowerment.

South Hampton Estates’ students/residents will have an opportunity to study the culture of what community and leadership means by learning how to work and share together in the Be Prepared To Learn campaign, and come to understand their own capacity as philanthropists – one gift at a time.

The InTune Mother plans to use local and social media to bring awareness to the South Hampton Estates community at large. Our unique community consists of single moms, families, singles, foster families, college students, and seniors. A large population of the community are low-income, single mothers. The others are working families, but are still in economic hardship. It is our goal to assist these families, by engaging local media, businesses, and community driven organizations to help support these children. We already have a commitment for 25 book bags from the Godby Road Recreational Center, but in a community with more than 100 school age children, in economic hardship, though greatly appreciated, it is not enough. With your help, we can make a difference and help more children “Be Prepared To Learn” at the start of this school year, from a simple gift of $1700.

The gifts that The InTune Mother collects for South Hampton Estates students/residents can add up to make a real difference.

$1 = will gift a 10 pack of pencils

$2-3 = will gift a pack of pencils, pens, and notebook paper

$10  = will gift one book bag, pencils, pens, and 2 composition books

$20 = will gift one child’s school supplies for one semester

$50 = will gift one child’s school supplies for one year

$100 = will gift two children’s school supplies for one year

$300 = will gift students/residents two all-in-one printers (after school program)

$600 = will gift students/residents two desktop computers (after school program)

$1,700 = will gift 100 SHE students/residents resources for back school success

$5,000 = will gift SHE students/residents with a thriving community resource center (onsite)

$25,000 = School supplies and support for up to five years for (onsite) community resource center

The additional 100 children living at South Hampton Estates will be on the waiting list, hoping to receive their school supplies from our community driven initiative. The InTune Mother hopes to help build a bridge of support, one dollar at a time, offering alternatives to the cycle of poverty and economic hardship, thus activating more initiatives for surrounding communities as well.

InCultureParent | Why African Toddlers Don’t Have Tantrums

In many African cultures it is normal to breastfeed until well into toddlerhood. It is also normal for older children under the age of six or seven to breastfeed again with their younger sibling, if the mother stopped breastfeeding because of another pregnancy. Having grown up in both Africa and Europe, I found it fascinating that what was considered to be standard practice in Africa was called extended breastfeeding  in Europe…

MELs (Men of Extraordinary Leadership): “Father Figure”

What it means to fulfill the role of a father… delivered in poem:

Father father did you ever figure

that you could ever fulfill this figure.

The complete image that the Most High Father made

standing engulfed in flesh on this very day.                                                                               father figure

A day that was written upon your very own inception

your time to bring forth life

call it a ‘Creator’s Induction’.

See the Most High made us all to be as he,

to unite with Mother Earth

through an eternal seed.

To continue a cycle never to be broken

rebirthing our existence

keeping eternities gates open.

Never slight for a second

the importance of your involvement

for strength is in numbers

unity is detrimental to evolving.

The backbone you provide for the stature of your family

is what God does for all creations

from trees to insects to all of humanity.

So continue to encourage and lift up your mate,

for without that divine connection

you cannot divinely create.

This is your most important deed the finest hat that you can bere.

You are now crowned FATHER FIGURE

you were chosen to be here.

Accept your role and play your position… for no man can walk out on his own story, the tale will be told!!! ~VoiceMEL

MELs (Men of Extraordinary Leadership): “A Knight In Shining Armor”

A man has endless opportunities to encounter elevation of  his being in a lifetime… The opportunity to completely involve himself ~from conception, through birth, and on into the life and creation of his families seed may very well be the most empowering and rewarding encounter!

The time of birth is one of the most opportune times for a man and a woman to share creation that only the two of them together could have made. A time when seeing the physical manifestation of what you two can do together truly overshadows any indifference that you may have shared prior to or after this moment. A woman can look at her man and see the strength and security that he gives her; the protection she feels giving her reason for recreating him, eternal life that only she could grant her mate (THIS child). A man can look at his woman and see the magnanimity that a woman has when she is one with nature, a respect for the vessel that she was made to be in delivering life… the worlds greatest gift to them… creation!

Seeing your child born in the proper environment has the ability to make you view every woman you know and meet with a purpose for being… and raise the question of why doesn’t every couple or family get to feel this very super-heroesque empowerment that comes along with this experience. The answer to that is very complex, but also very simple. The evolution that comes with having children can make or break the strongest of spirits. I’ve seen the most irresponsible people become model parents once they paused the chaos and really divulged themselves into the change that was embarking on their lives and focused on the empowerment that creating life can provide one with. Unfortunately, I’ve seen the exact opposite a very strong spirit broken down and beaten because they fought against the change and wanted to hold on to their old selves in ways that conflicted even though they knew the value of what evolution of creating life can do for one’s being. Childbirth is probably the biggest life altering event that a person can go through, this is why when the village(family) is a strong unit the pregnancy and birth itself can yield a renewing  of spirit and soul that is almost impossible to duplicate. The most invigorated  of the family will of course be the creators ‘Mom and Dad’.

Creating life and contributing to the existence of our species is one of the highest forms of living in the image of ‘The Most High… God’ our creator that we can accomplish. ~ VoiceMEL

Mother Earth

As the Father of all creation implants the seed of all that lives into Mother Earth, and watches the seed grow into whatever it was meant to become… on goes the existence of all living things on this planet (as well as I’m sure the universe  for that matter, but that’s to be con’t in a different blog…). This is the same exhilaration that parents should be able to become one with. As the males(MELs)  in this dynamic event it becomes our responsibility in a sense to make sure that this happens. The power that men have in the birth may not seem like much when thinking on it physically or even mentally by what history teaches us on our position or role in this process. In all actuality the typical role that the male has been given could not be more inaccurate from what helps the process of childbirth to be a beautiful memory/experience. The old school wait in the waiting room pacing the floor or the focal point of hate and frustration that the mother belittles and abuses with fault for doing this to her, is quickly becoming extinct. A great article that I recently read covered this subject matter extensively at belly belly.com … check it out!

Men are becoming more aware and knowledgeable about what their encouragement and support can mean to their women  when preparing for the birth and going through the whole process together. A woman will naturally feel a certain type of appreciation to the person who held their hand and encouraged them through surges or labour pains. Even the little things like giving ice chips or messages when and where they are needed can go a long way for the comfort of the mother… who better to be the recipient of her appreciation than her mate. Dr. Robert A. Bradley author of ” Husband-Coached Childbirth” creator of The Bradley Method of natural childbirth, was known for being one of (if not) the first physicians in a hospital to implement these tactics as he also introduced natural drug-free childbirth into the hospitals.  This type of good nature was not back then in the 70’s and still to this day of common practice, but the more knowledge that the family has the more power.

Like for instance, a father signs a form in the midst of all that lovely paperwork that is given to a family when having a baby at the hospital that says he will make the decisions in the delivery room because the mother will be in a delusional state of mind because of the drugs. In which of course she signs the form waiving her rights at that time as well. The part that makes this go bad is when the father is not made aware of all the power that he has in saying what happens and what doesn’t, usually due to the lack of education on the whole process of the birth. What I will say to solve these issues is study together and separately, gather all the knowledge you can about this process and make a birth plan… most of all stick to the plan.

Homebirthing was the option that allowed my family to be (without conflict) in control of our choices and carry-out our births as we planned them…

It wasn’t a common practice at all in either of our families to birth at home, in fact barely anyone that we knew had ever even thought about doing it. After a few terrible Doctor visits with our first pregnancy and the research that we performed was at a confident level we made the homebirth decision and continued to build our ideal birth as we saw fit. The studying was  more driven by the Mrs of course, but I was all in willing to learn all that I could as well as share with her anything that I found would add value to our knowledge. We created our birth chamber together, went to the hypnobirthing classes together, all the midwife visits together, and really focused on the task at hand together… I wanted mine to know that I would be prepared to the fullest and that she could count on me the whole way for whatever she needed. This carried us on to be able to deliver our second and third sons without medical assistance( also another blog soon to come… Lol).

Preparation is the key, and men we have to know that the preparation is as much on us as it is on the woman… Making her assured of this and confident that you will be all the support and reassurance she needs before, during, and after the birth will set smooths sails going in and coming out… Be her knight in shining armor, now if no other time in life… and guaranteed  your family will reap the treasure of your acts.

ReBirthing Mother Nature’s

Undisturbed Intent

When we identify with the natural process of love and the divinity of childbirth, we connect with the realization of our social powers. We can bring value to the collective communal aspects of our voices. What you believe is what becomes, and if you make love to ALL that you do… You produce the hottest flame… That is pure blue-violet (purple) in hue. Understanding each and everyone of us began as a simple blood clot. Least we understand the beauty of our purpose is to become free in the will of our minds and disciplined within the yearnings of our hearts. This is how we Birth Like A BOSS. This is how we give birth to Gods.

Stop Throwing Stones At A Glass House

STOP Trippin…

Glass Birth

First off… Let me begin by saying that I am a woman, and then a wife, and then a mother and a social entrepreneur. The more information that I read about midwifery and the issues behind the color barriers within the birthworking community it creates within me a dull feeling. I wonder at times, how important it is to pursue a “profession” that has been a natural practice since the inception of time. With all of the founding organizations and new organizations that are subservient to these “grandmother” foundations, I wonder why is it that we are now becoming so covetous about such a free concept. As my husband and I build on the beauty of our simple and economically sound home birth experiences,  we felt the need to share what we learned with other families, particularly within the community of color.

Now don’t get it twisted. The InTune Mother Project is not and exclusionary concept. What it is, is a community based project that is channeling into the statistical outcomes of those within our immediate peer group. It is not easy to speak to this issue, when there are so many skeptics. It use to be difficult to discuss with people that we did not hire a midwife for the birth of our last son, who is now 10 months old. It is almost like a scar to tell people that our second home birth was unplanned and unassisted. Yet the spirit knows who, when, where, and how… and my hubby and I trust that.

It was not until I attended The Matrona Retreat For Women of Color in the Spring of 2013 that I felt the true connection to my instinctive decision making. I could trust my body and my baby was on the same team with me. And my husband was the GREATEST coach of all times… And we won… and are still winning from the dynamic energy that one experience can offer us as a form of empowerment.

In the beginning we had so much energy and did not exactly know where to focus it all. So first we tried our hand at internet marketing. It was a very unfamiliar territory, but what we were able to grasp from the teaching tools landed us here. Giving us a broad platform to discuss the fragility and sacredness within, the empowerment of childbirth… Hints the title of this post “Stop throwing stones at glass houses”. The childbirth experience is not something that can be sold or bottle up and then tossed into the wind, hoping that someone will run away chanting your ideas. The experience of childbirth is of the Divine and to every woman there is a similar story, but all her own…

So shortly after our 3rd homebirth, we began blogging and telling of our challenges and triumphs. We began to share our fruits with an online community that didn’t know us from Adam and Eve. These individuals became our new friends. We learned that time and persistence is what pays off in the race to freedom. The freedom that we found was not in the concept of a dollar… Money was so contrary to our motivation. It became the desire to help others establish this freedom as well. While doing so… more and more of our original thoughts became clear.

Why did we homebirth our children? Freedom of Choice.

Why did we choose to do it unassisted the last time? Freedom of  Informed Decision.

Why did we choose to breastfeed? Freedom of Maternal Equessence.

Why did we decide to begin a grassroots practice in birth work? Freedom of Spiritual Communication and Cultivation.

So I began by saying, “STOP Trippin!” The birth work industry is nothing new to our civilization. Medical science has turned it into a power struggle of ethics and theory. So here is my theory on the art of conception, childbirth, and parenting in short.

A woman will only conceive with a man that is designed for her egg at it’s proper time and hour. Infertility is a medical term and burden. I was 17 years old, having had premarital sex, no pregnancies (thank Gawd), and all of my closest family and friends were popping babies out left and right. Some had abortions to multiple fathers… it was the norm in my community. This is not to speak ill or corse against those circumstances, but I know that their experiences were not planned that way… by them. Every woman desires to have a family… meaning a partner and co-creator to share the experience of child rearing with.

So I recall a woman asking me… “When you gone have a baby”? I was somewhat offended… but in respect of my elders… I said, “When God says it’s time”.  Then at 25 it hit me… I wanted a baby. I was getting older… and I did not have the right man to produce my seeds with. It took prayer and meditation to will him into my presence. I cooked for him, I primped for him, I even loved myself for him. Then he came, in the blink of an eye. I knew it was him and he recognized me and now we are 7-years strong, 3 children, and highly motivated to continue our mission together of truth and empowerment.

Bringing Home Homebirth

See conception begins in the womb of the mind. If you believe that you can have something… Then it will come to you. It will stalk you down… way down in your soul. You know the place where the baby is carried… In the solar plexus? The same love power that it takes for you to connect to the process of conception, is the exact same process in which we shall approach childbirth, yet in reverse. Instead of tuning into the power of attraction… we must learn how to let go without fear or restriction. This is the power of childbirth freedom… This is the empowerment of what love can do… even in the event of chaos… there WILL come order.

Then the hat of parenthood meets the idea of co-creation and the image of the polarity of the male and female principle becomes the essence of the God factor within identity. Like saying we are who we say we are. So call the children by their names. We name them in lineage and in love… Whether it is familial love, communal love, or conceptual love. I think that they really name themselves and we as parents have to connect to who they say they are. Because, the definitely knew who we were and they choose us. The children know who is the best fit for them… even the mother who is addicted to street drugs, has a cognitive connection with her maternal self… It is just somehow hidden in the darkness of her pain body.

That is why it is imperative to not be boastful and judgemental as it relates to birth work because, this is the most divine time during the process of bring together lifeforce energy. This is where we as women meet the most resistance. This is where we come into the light.

So when we summons help or assistance from the traditions of Western Medicine, or the hand of a Midwife (documented or not), or any other type of birth worker, it is not because we are helpless. We summons this help because it is natural to desire a community to take part in the blessing of childbirth. Women do not “need” to be told how to birth… they need to be reminded that they know what they know. The need to be reckoned to the essence of what brought them this far… with no risks, no worry, and no fear of giving birth, in the beauty of what nature intended… Undisturbed.
