Your Ticket To Culturally Centered Self-Care

What is self-care and how do we decided what is most necessary for us to thrive in everyday life?

Well here are 13 ways to get started.

1.) Make sure that you celebrate yourself in various ways other than birthday’s or special occasions.

2.) If it feels wrong to you, then don’t do it. This is your Inner-G talking to you, so listen up.

3.) Get plenty of good rest. Sleeping in when you can and taking naps are good for restoring your time and energy sequence.

4.) Use your words with integrity. Speak exactly what you mean and be okay with it.

5.) Stop trying to please everyone. Self preservation is the first law in nature. Apply this law to yourself.

6.) Trust your intuition. This is an innate an primal power that we all possess. Learn how to get deeper into the consciousness of listening for your clues unconsciously.

7.) Talking bad about yourself is the worst! Talking bad about others is just as bad. When speaking about yourself, make sure that you are making positive affirmations to the best parts of you. Just as speaking positively about others can manifest good things for you too. Life and death is REALLY in the power of the tongue.

8.) Dream big, far, and wide. Then go after them without ceasing. When you go after what you want in life, it feels good to have an inspired intention. And self-care is ultimately about doing what feels good.

9.) Saying No, is a good thing. Feel confident that you know what is best for you and that saying no to something right now does not mean you can not revisit the idea at another time.

10.) Saying Yes, is also a good thing. It is actually pretty damn powerful. When you say yes to things, it sends a high vibrational frequency out into the Universe that bounces off of your words and intentions by adding more abundance to your life.

11.) Get InTune to kindness. The best thing you can do is treat yourself. Taking time to perform small acts of kindness for yourself, helps you articulate your ideas of kindness to others in a productive way.

12.) Let go of being in control. The way this life is set up- It is important to learn how to be in the flow. This is a critical part of our commitment to wellness. The more we stress on being in control, the harder it is to be flexible with the magic of managing expectations of others and ultimately ourselves.

13.) Drama and negativity are the assassin’s of good self-care. There are certain things that happen in our lives that lead us back to #12. One way to repell the drama and negatively is to speak power over the situation. Use words that defuse and empower vulnerable or less favorable times. It works like a magnet.

And I have a small BONUS point I want to offer you.

Number 14

LOVE. “Love is thee highest law and only true religion”. This is a great quote that came to me some time ago while on a journey to find out what  (religion) was most suitable for me. In doing so, I found that most reliable spiritual sources all led back to LOVE. Henceforth came the way I define self-care… By showing love to myself first and this affects the way I express value of others in my path.

I hope this post helps those of you who read it. As a tribe of dedicated non-medical spiritual practitioners, we are looking forward to connecting with you on how to move closer towards the empowerment and freedom lifestyle you can and WILL have.

Stay INTUNE!

On August 8th, 2014, The InTune Mother (TIM) along with management and residents at South Hampton Estates (SHE) hopes to demonstrate to hundreds of other school children around the College Park area a shared vision to empower communities through education in remote areas of Fulton County. The residents at South Hampton Estates are embarking on a “Be Prepared To Learn” campaign to broaden their cultural horizons and become members of a communal family dedicated to education.

How can one dollar prepare a child to learn? It doesn’t buy much in the Metro City of Atlanta. But in the  City of College Park, it can buy a pack of pencils, prepare a child for education, and transform a life. In a community where many odds are stacked against them, that pencil can empower a child to read, write, and learn. The InTune Mother’s program goal is to encourage children, who are ultimately our future leaders, to learn the value of philanthropy by collecting dollars for community empowerment.

South Hampton Estates’ students/residents will have an opportunity to study the culture of what community and leadership means by learning how to work and share together in the Be Prepared To Learn campaign, and come to understand their own capacity as philanthropists – one gift at a time.

The InTune Mother plans to use local and social media to bring awareness to the South Hampton Estates community at large. Our unique community consists of single moms, families, singles, foster families, college students, and seniors. A large population of the community are low-income, single mothers. The others are working families, but are still in economic hardship. It is our goal to assist these families, by engaging local media, businesses, and community driven organizations to help support these children. We already have a commitment for 25 book bags from the Godby Road Recreational Center, but in a community with more than 100 school age children, in economic hardship, though greatly appreciated, it is not enough. With your help, we can make a difference and help more children “Be Prepared To Learn” at the start of this school year, from a simple gift of $1700.

The gifts that The InTune Mother collects for South Hampton Estates students/residents can add up to make a real difference.

$1 = will gift a 10 pack of pencils

$2-3 = will gift a pack of pencils, pens, and notebook paper

$10  = will gift one book bag, pencils, pens, and 2 composition books

$20 = will gift one child’s school supplies for one semester

$50 = will gift one child’s school supplies for one year

$100 = will gift two children’s school supplies for one year

$300 = will gift students/residents two all-in-one printers (after school program)

$600 = will gift students/residents two desktop computers (after school program)

$1,700 = will gift 100 SHE students/residents resources for back school success

$5,000 = will gift SHE students/residents with a thriving community resource center (onsite)

$25,000 = School supplies and support for up to five years for (onsite) community resource center

The additional 100 children living at South Hampton Estates will be on the waiting list, hoping to receive their school supplies from our community driven initiative. The InTune Mother hopes to help build a bridge of support, one dollar at a time, offering alternatives to the cycle of poverty and economic hardship, thus activating more initiatives for surrounding communities as well.

Be Prepared To Learn (Back To School Drive)

GETTING STARTED

A good way to start is to know that in the end, hundreds of children will benefit at the start of this school year well equipped and ready to learn, thanks to you.

It is the goal of The InTune Mother to support the families of College Park, GA, starting @ South Hampton Estates. We are reaching out to you our family, friends, and colleagues to ask that you assist us in helping at least 100 families, with the purchase of book bags and school supplies.

With your help, we can alleviate this issue with a simple contribution of $17 per book bag (including supplies). – See more: CLICK HERE

There is no “one way” to support this initiative. Some cities have school buses collect or deliver supplies, others have drop off sites. Some supplies come in packages while others come fully assembled. While we are a small grassroots organization our social impact is needed. That is why we call you to action on today!

We have a simple system that has three basic steps:

  • Begin with the end vision in mind: Know who you want to serve? How you want to serve them? When you want to take action?
  • Recruiting help: By reaching out to you our readers and key organizations is the best way to drive home what we need to organize and collect supplies.
  • Execution of event: After we collect the supplies, we will sort them and deliver to the designated donation site.

Here is a suggested list of the supplies we will need:
